rigggght up until you need to code and implement that shit and realize you just made a system as complex as half of your game. possibly add a green house system in the late game. maybe force the player to build infrastructure to irrigate the crops. make seeds plentiful, make grow times super long, add weather events that could damage crop yields. The correct way to go about it would be to try and keep it as grounded as possible. there are many ways to put a balanced farming system in the game but they all have trade offs. That is a rather massive issue to have in game in which a major part of its gameplay loop is going out and finding stuff to survive.īut at the same time farming is a cool concept and almost expected to exist. The big issue with farming in general is that it is inherently a system designed so that you eventually do not need to go out and find stuff to survive.
